3 Ways to deal with food in isolation that will  make you feel better.

Did the pandemic change your relationship with food?

As a cook, I have a very narrow relationship with what I eat, however I feel that since the coronavirus outbreak and in periods of isolation, this relationship has become more difficult.

In this article on self.com, https://www.self.com/story/food-issues-during-quarantine. Carolyn L. Todd tells us about her own experience and why this is not unusual in this context. She approaches the subject taking different aspects, taking into account the problems of stress and anxiety, changes in routine and eating habits. and how we face all that food that we usually allow ourselves on special occasions to give ourselves a treat. In addition to this analysis, she also advises us and offers us tips and tools to deal with these problems, to take better care of ourselves both physically and mentally; and invites us to know and improve our relationship with food.

To delve a little deeper into the relationship. health - food - covid, this article https://www.eufic.org/en/healthy-living/article/10-tips-to-eat-healthy-during-quarantine-or-isolation-covid-19 from us gives 10 tips to eat and feel better in this context of pandemic. Through infographics, texts and video, it informs us about what foods and calories, recommended intakes and amount of water that we should drink. He mentions the importance of vitamin D and sunlight for our health and suggests care and means to take into account when going out to buy food, both to prevent covid and food-borne diseases.

Drawing on these two articles and my personal experiences in the food industry and as a chef, I have listed three actions that I recommend you to do if you are isolated and having a bad relationship with nourishment.

  • Eat Healthier: Improving our diet, we will feel better physically and we will improve our immune system.

  • Treat yourself: Eating the things we like the most improves our mood and helps to combat stress.

  • Don't blame yourself: It is very difficult to maintain the eating habits that we had before the pandemic and it is important not to blame yourself when we cannot do it.

Starting today, you can have a better, elthier, and more enjoyable  relationship with what you eat during this pandemic context and improve your everyday living.
